Lease Revenue Explained

Mineral leases are the rights to extract minerals from the ground. The Bureau of Land Management sells these leases to private companies. These companies pay the federal government for these leases. The Federal Government then returns a portion to the State, a portion of which is returned to the county of origin, a portion of which is used to fund various state agencies, and the remainder is placed in the Permanent Community Impact Fund.
